Summer TO

TCS’s Tikkun Olam Committee is launching a SUMMER MITZVAH PROJECT!   

Our goal is to supply over 100 Back Packs fully stocked with school supplies to local children in need in time for the start of the school year this coming fall. COVID-19 has impacted poor families especially hard.  As we look to the Fall, we can support these families, so that their children can achieve the education they want and need. 

We need your help. Luckily, this mitzvah project has something for everyone: (1) you can GIVE; (2) you can PACK the backpacks; and/or (3) you can DELIVER the backpacks to recipient organizations. 

COMPLETE! Phase 1 (month of July): Raise money for backpacks. The Sydney Paige Foundation will collect donations and purchase and ship these items to us at cost. 

Phase 2 (August 15): Pack up the backpacks and deliver them to recipient organizations.

Recipient Organizations: 

• Homes with Hope is a Westport-based organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Fairfield County. 
• The Center for Family Justice is a domestic violence service near Bridgeport, CT providing help for people dealing with domestic abuse.
• The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants, Inc. (CIRI) is a statewide nonprofit organization that assists refugees and immigrants resolve legal, economic, linguistic and social barriers so that they become self-sufficient, integrated and contributing members of the community.
• The Catholic Academy of Bridgeport - Serving 900 students from diverse backgrounds on 4 campuses throughout the Bridgeport area.
